Republic Day Speech

Namaste, 🙏🏼

A very warm greetings to you and heartiest congratulations of Republic Day💐

As you know, today is 26th January and we are going to celebrate our Republic day. This is our 73rd republic day.

You know.. why we celebrate Republic day! Yes of course, the Constitution came into force on this day.

What is the constitution?

The constitution is a large book  which contains rules and regulations for the country, on which the country governs. all rules and regulations are accepted by the citizens. because our constitution makers were great farsighted. They were aware of the future needs of the society. Several rounds of thorough discussions took place on the draft constitution clause by clause. We adopted our constitution on 26 November 1949 and it came into force on 26 January 1950.

What are the features of our constitution?

Our constitution is a lengthy and detailed document. It is strict and flexible as well. Some addition and deletion can occur for the betterment of the citizens. Constitution amendment only can be done in the parliament. Our constitution is also a living document; it is constantly growing and evolving according to the needs and aspirations of the people. The constitution is secular  because it does not favour any religion and  people are free to practice any religion of their choice.

Why do we celebrate our Republic day on 26 January?

26 January was chosen as the date for this occasion because this was the day in 1930 when the Indian National Congress had demanded ‘complete Independence’ or Purna Swaraj as opposed to the dominion status. The INC celebrated its first independence day by hoisting our national flag. This is the day when our national anthem was also sung for the first time.

The constitution was framed by the constituent assembly of India. It took  approx. 3 years to complete. Dr. Sachidanand Sinha was the first president of the constituent assembly. Later, Dr. Rajendra Prasad was elected its president. The constituent assembly was dominated by INC. Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Vallabhbhai Patel, Dr.Rajendra Prasad, Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad, Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar, Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, Sardar Baldev Singh, Sarojini Naidu and Vijayalakshmi Pandit were the prominent leaders of constituent assembly.

What is the need of the Constitution or Why is it so Important for us?

  • The constitution tells the nature of the country and it is also the guardian of our rights.
  • The constitution is the supreme law that determines the relationship between the people and the government.
  • It creates trust and coordination between the government and its citizens.

Do you know how we celebrate this National festival in our Capital?

The president of India unfurls the flag on this day. On this day ,every year the  grand republic day parade is held at Rajpath, New Delhi by armed forces. 21 gun salute follows, with the national anthem played by a military band.

The grandest and most important of this parade, which showcases a multi-hued  image of the country’s rich cultural heritage and military powers. Different school students come here to perform cultural programs from different parts of the country. We celebrate this festival with great zeal and joy.

In schools, the flag hoisting is done by principals ,school children participate in parades and cultural programs which are held on school campuses. sweets are distributed among the children.

So see bachcho, the great day in our history has been to remember our freedom and struggle. youths are the pillars of strength and fortune of the country.so bachcho..

” Love your country, live for country and preserve your culture.”
